Urban drainage is required in developed urban areas due to the interaction between human activities and the natural water cycle. The two types of abstraction from the water cycle include water supply for human life and rainfall falling on impermeable surfaces. Both types of abstractions require the establishment and management of a drainage system.

This is a free, modular, self-paced course. Through five modules you will receive a general overview of MIKE URBAN+ and its advantages with focus on learning the basic functions of MIKE URBAN+ Collection Systems (MU+ CS). Upon completion of the course, you will be able to set up and run your very first model in MIKE URBAN+ Collection System (MU+ CS).

You will be enabled to continue comfortably on the more in-depth course "A comprehensive course in urban drainage modelling using MIKE URBAN+ Collection System (MU+ CS)".

Each module includes videos, materials and handouts that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around two hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements - and from the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.

Module 1 - First steps

Creating a new project and working with background layers

Module 2 - Network system (CS)

Basic features for creating a collection system from scratch and working with the attributes of the collection system

Module 3 - Hydrology

Creating catchments and connecting them to the network, specifying a rainfall-runoff model for the catchments

Module 4 - Boundary condition and simulation

Adding a rain time series und running the very first simulation

Module 5 - Results

Viewing basic results

Katharina is a MIKE URBAN+ specialist based in Vienna, Austria. In addition to project support of urban flood and drainage projects, Katharina offers customers´ support based on local challenges. She is responsible for positioning MIKE+ on the market, for training materials and training.
Katharina is an authorised DHI trainer.
