Urban drainage is required in developed urban areas due to the interaction between human activities and the natural water cycle. The two types of abstraction from the water cycle include water supply for human life and rainfall falling on impermeable surfaces. Both types of abstractions require the establishment and management of a drainage system.

This course will teach you how to address urban drainage modelling holistically. You will learn about the basic functions of MIKE URBAN+ and how it can help you tackle the most pressing water management challenges of today. After you complete this course you will be able to continue comfortably on our more advanced and comprehensive course.

About MIKE URBAN+

MIKE URBAN+ is DHI’s urban water modelling platform that helps you model all urban water systems, including water distribution, storm water drainage, sewer collection in separate and combined systems as well as integrated urban flooding.

Each module includes videos, materials and handouts that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around two hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements - and from the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.

Module 1 - First steps

Creating a new project and working with background layers

Module 2 - Network system (CS)

Basic features for creating a collection system from scratch and working with the attributes of the collection system

Module 3 - Hydrology

Creating catchments and connecting them to the network, specifying a rainfall-runoff model for the catchments

Module 4 - Boundary condition and simulation

Adding a rain time series und running the very first simulation

Module 5 - Results

Viewing basic results
