PRODUCT

MIKE+ Urban Flooding

Urban flooding often occurs because of insufficient storm drainage capacity, river overflows, storm surge, coastal floods or a combination of these phenomena. Cities in many parts of the world are vulnerable to urban flooding, largely due to the lack of efficient drainage systems. Furthermore, the risks of flooding are amplified by the expected effects of climate change.

This is a free, modular, self-paced course. Through four modules you will receive a general overview of MIKE+ and its advantages with a focus on learning the basic functions of MIKE+ Urban Flooding. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to set up and run your very first urban flood model in MIKE+. You will be enabled to continue comfortably on the more in-depth course "MIKE+ – Leveraging the power of integrated urban flood modelling"

About MIKE+ Urban Flooding

MIKE+ is DHI’s integrated platform for modelling of urban water. MIKE+ helps you model all urban water systems, including water distribution, stormwater drainage, sewer collection in separate and combined systems as well as integrated urban flooding.

The 2D dynamic flood modelling in MIKE+ allows you to model the exchange between 2D surface water and a 1D stormwater network. This includes a seamless workflow for 1D and 2D model development and leveraging the computational power of parallel processing on a multi-core CPU or multiple GPUs.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

Are you interested in getting a kick-start in modelling the urban water environment? Do you want to find out how easy it is to work on models, using MIKE+ Urban Flooding and coupling a 1D network to a 2D overland model? Do you need an overview of the MIKE+ programme and learn how to use the basic functions of MIKE+ Urban Flooding to start a project from scratch? If yes, you will benefit from this free, self-paced course.

WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?

Upon completion of the course, you will be on your way to becoming an urban water modeller. In this way, you will be able to set up and run your very first model in MIKE+ Urban Modelling and continue comfortably on more
in-depth and/or advanced courses.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Each module includes videos, materials and handouts that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around two hours to complete the course at the time that fits your needs and requirements - and in the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.
