PRODUCT

MIKE+

Understanding river hydraulics and catchment hydrology is crucial for river engineering work, flood control, reservoir operation, hydropower, watershed management and wetland restoration. This is one reason why rivers are increasingly being managed and studied around the world.

This free, self-paced course will teach you how to study river flow holistically. You will learn about the basic functions of the River module in MIKE+ and see how it can help you tackle the most pressing water management challenges of today.

About MIKE+

MIKE+ is the integrated water modelling platform that helps you make the most comprehensive analyses of all your waterways. Using the River module, you can simulate river hydraulics, water quality, sediment transport, flooding and forecasting as well as catchment dynamics and runoff in one versatile modelling platform.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

Are you interested in getting a kick-start in modelling the river water environment? Do you want to find out if MIKE+ is the right tool for your project? Do you want to learn about 1D hydraulic and lumped hydrological modelling? If yes, you will benefit from this free, self-paced course.

WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?

Upon course completion, you will be able to set up and run your very first model in MIKE+ River and be on your way to becoming a river modeller.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Each module includes videos, materials that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around two hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements – in the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.

MODULE DETAILS

  • Module 1 – First steps
Creating a new project, understanding the user interface and working with background layers
  • Module 2 Hydrodynamic
Creating river branches, importing cross-sections, setting up weirs and defining boundary conditions
  • Module 3 – Hydrology
Creating catchments, configuring rainfall-runoff models and coupling to the hydraulic model
  • Module 4 – Model execution
