INVESTMENT

Fee: No charge*

Time commitment — approximately two hours in total, divided as follows:

  • Self-study: Modules 1-4 (includes demonstration videos, handouts and model files; 1 hour)
  • Additional time to execute model runs (1 hour)

PRODUCT

MIKE+ SWMM

Stormwater and wastewater drainage models are critical tools for any city, municipality or utility. They are used for assessing existing drainage infrastructure performance under normal and extreme conditions, for optimising system upgrades to meet performance targets, and for evaluating the cause of reported system deficiencies.

About MIKE+

MIKE+ is an integrated urban and riverine modelling software package that provides all the tools and workflows you need to support the entire lifecycle of the network model development, calibration, system analysis, visualisation and reporting.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

This course is designed for a beginner level modeller who is familiar with the basic concepts of collection system network modelling, including data requirements and boundary conditions.

WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?

Upon course completion, you will be familiar with the tools and workflows required to build, run and analyse results of a stormwater and wastewater collection system model using the USEPA’s SWMM computational engine.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Each module includes instructional videos providing clear, step-by-step instructions for completing the activities required to achieve the objective of each module. It will take you around two hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements - and in the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.

MODULE DETAILS

  • Module 1 – First steps
Creating a new project, user interface, loading background images, importing data from GIS
  • Module 2 Network System
Graphically creating features, editing attributes (manual editing, field calculator, gap filling, working with selections), using the scenario manager
  • Module 3 – Catchments and Boundary Conditions
Creating catchments from an image, connecting catchments to the network, hydrologic modelling, defining wastewater loading, defining rainfall boundary condition
  • Module 4 - Simulation and Results
    Start simulation and review results

PRESENTER
ANN QUENZER, PRINCIPAL ENGINEER AND SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, DHI, USA

1411

Ann is experienced in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, with emphasis on wastewater collection, stormwater drainage and combined sewer systems. She has expertise integrating both 1-dimensional network and 2-dimensional surface models. She has been involved in project management, design management, continuous hydrologic modelling for stormwater assessments, I/I assessment for separated sanitary systems, cloudburst modelling, real-time control, optimisation and watershed management. Ann is an authorised DHI trainer in modelling for urban collection systems and stormwater engineering.
