PRODUCT

MIKE+

Water quality analysis of water supply and water distribution systems is a direct extension of hydraulic network modelling, and it can be used to perform many useful analyses. Transport, mixing, and decay are the fundamental physical and chemical processes typically represented in water quality models. Water quality models are often used for source blending analysis (in case of multiple water sources), water age analysis (how old is the water before it reaches customers), residual chlorine analysis, and contaminant tracing or emergency response.

This course will teach you the basic functions of the MIKE+ Water Distribution that will allow you to setup your model, run simulations, view and present your model results.

About MIKE+ Water Distribution

The MIKE+ Water Distribution is a comprehensive modelling system for hydraulic and water quality analysis of water supply and water distribution systems. It is based on DHI modification of the EPANET numerical solver. Use MIKE+ to develop dynamic water distribution networks, perform hydraulic and water quality modelling, gain control of pumps and valves, and reduce leakage; plan network sectioning, analyse fire flows and trace multiple sources.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

Do you have basic knowledge of hydraulics including pressurized pipelines, for example? Are you interested in getting a kick-start in water quality modelling? Do you want to find out how easy it is to work with the MIKE+ Water Distribution Model? Do you want to get ideas on setting up a MIKE+ water quality model for your hydraulic application? If yes, you will benefit from this free, self-paced course.

WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?

Upon course completion, you will be able to set up and run a water quality model using MIKE+ Water Distribution. You will know how to extent any hydraulic model to water quality, compute water age, source tracing, or residual chlorine within water supply and water distribution systems. You will learn how to interpret simulation results.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Each module includes videos, materials and handouts that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around four hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements – and in the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.

MODULE DETAILS

Module 1 – Water age

Water age is an important performance indicator to many utilities because excessive age can cause problems with disinfection by-products.

Module 2 – Source trace

Source trace reports about travel time with the network system and tells us about water source blending.

Module 3 – Residual chlorine

To ensure that the distribution system has safe drinking water, it is necessary to know the residual chlorine concentrations within the system.
